Do you want to know how to get the best Witcher 3 ending or what could have happened? Let our guide answer his questions.

The good ending of The Witcher 3 is just one of the possible endings that you can get and it's not easy to get it the first time either. You have to make seemingly bad decisions at certain points that may not immediately seem important, so you can easily ruin your chances without realizing it.
There are actually 36 unique endgame scenarios when you take into account all the different things you can do throughout the game. Although this issue covers various side quest outcomes and other less important options. Actually, there are three main results that can be obtainedthe witcher 3(opens in a new tab). If you want to know what they are or how to get them, keep reading as we cover all of The Witcher 3 endings.
Major spoilers ahead for The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt
The most important aspect of The Witcher 3 ending revolves entirely around Ciri. After spending most of the game desperately searching for Cintra's lion cub, Geralt is finally reunited with his adopted daughter, but not under ideal circumstances. The ghostly parade of elves known as the Wild Hunt, specifically Eredin Breacc Glas's Red Riders, still haunts them, eager to capture them and harness their fantastic abilities to manipulate space and time. Once Geralt has rescued Ciri from the Isle of Vanishing Mists, Geralt will bring her back to Kaer Morhen and you'll be able to weigh in on part of the ending.
The first big decision concerns the fate of Ciri.
The determinants of Ciri's fate appear in Act II and Act III, and come into play shortly after the game presents you with a point of no return warning. The first decision you have to make is to cheer up a discouraged Ciri. You have two options here: take them to the fort for a drink or challenge them to a good old fashioned snowball fight. Choosing the first option, "Tell Ciri she doesn't have to be good at everything", cannot cheer her up and negatively affect her fate. However, when Geralt tells Ciri that you know what "might lift her spirits", Geralt jokingly throws a snowball at her, triggering the actual Kaer Morhen fight and giving Ciri a brief respite from her troubles. This counts as one point for Ciri's good ending.
Later you have the option to take Ciri to her father Emhyr var Emreis or go directly to Velen. The decision to take her to Emhyr actually involves another considered decision as well. If you escort her to Nilfgaard, she will be offered a reward. If you accept it and accumulate enough positive points to keep Ciri alive, she will become Empress at the end of the game and it will count as a negative point. Although turning down the bounty still makes them want to get into diplomacy, it does at least count as a plus point. However, skipping Emhyr entirely and going straight to Velen counts for what most fans think is the best possible ending to The Witcher 3: Ciri becomes a witch. Of course, this is also a positive point.
In the third and final act of the game, there are three other critical choices. The first has to do with Ciri's trip to visit the Lodge of Enchantresses. While the decision to go with her may seem like superficial support, it causes Ciri's confidence to suffer and adds a negative point to her account. However, encouraging them to walk alone has a positive effect and creates a plus point on top of that.
Soon after, Geralt and Ciri venture into Avallac'h's laboratory. Ciri, angry at the way Aen Elle has interfered in her life, wants to destroy the place as revenge. Telling her to calm down on her has the same result as walking her to the box: loss of confidence. Negative point Giving in of her to her, however, gives her the catharsis she needs from her and allows for a bit of a father/daughter/hooliganism bond. It's moving like the snowball fight, except it's a little more rebellious. positive point
The last big decision you have to make regarding Ciri's fate concerns Skjall, the deceased young man she befriended in Skellige. When Geralt visits her grave with her, Ciri will pay her respects and discover a new determination. Positive Point Telling her friend that there is no time to grieve in a game where you play cards while you are supposed to search for your missing daughter creates a negative point.
In order for Ciri to stay alive, you must accumulate at least three positive points. If you get less, she disappears from the game with the implication that she is dead. So once she gets enough positive results, there are two possible options: Ciri becomes an empress or Ciri becomes a witch. For the first, you need to visit Emhyr while completing Blood on the Battlefield, the quest where you come to Vesemir by killing Imlerith. You also need to make sure Radovid and Dijkstra are dead so Emhyr can win the war.
Most people prefer Ciri to follow in Geralt's footsteps and become a witch. If you can't get him to meet Emhyr and score at least three positive points, you'll be able to access the third variant of The Witchers quest, Something Ends, Something Begins, which perfectly sums up the intertwined stories of Geralt and Ciri. But that is not the end. After completing the game, if you play Blood and Wine without falling in love with anyone, Ciri will come to visit Geralt at his new vineyard in Toussaint.
How to get the best ending for Ciri
- If you have to choose between having a drink with Ciri or having a snowball fight, the snowball fight counts as one point towards Ciri's happy ending.
- Skipping the trip to Emhyr and going directly to Velen helps Ciri to become a witch and is a positive point.
- When Ciri visits the Lodge of Enchantresses, letting her go alone has a positive effect.
- Having Ciri destroyed in Avallac'h's lab gives her the catharsis she needs, and that's a plus point.
- Giving Ciri time in Skjall to visit Skjall's Tomb will allow her to pay her respects and discover a new resolve. positive point
Unfortunately, some things are set in stone. Losing Vesemir finally gives Ciri the determination to conquer her journey, so there is no way to undo it. However, you can ensure that she honors her legacy by following in her footsteps. Just get three plus points and make Emhyr ghost.
What happens to Geralt in the ending of The Witcher 3?
Geralt's official end will be determined by who he loves: stay a witch, retreat to Kovir with Triss, or flee with Yennefer, far from the spooky world of witches. Or has he chosen to avoid romance for a more solitary existence? This also determines who visits his vineyard in Toussaint. (If Ciri dies and you haven't had an affair with anyone, Dandelion will appear.)
A summary of the 36 endings of Witcher 3
In terms of the total 36 scenarios, most only deal with individual character arcs. What happened to Sigi Dijkstra? Did the Bloody Baron manage to find the Anna he knew and loved? And what about the Hill of Whispers? These are quite minor in relation to the main final conditions which, apart from Ciri's fate, are based on the following:
Who wins the war? The three options here are Emhyr, Radovid, and Dijkstra, and this is mostly due to the Reason of State quest line (which is one of the best in the game).
Who will be the ruler of Skellige? It is Cerys, Hjalmar or Svanrige. Svanrige only becomes king if you don't complete the An Craite questline, which would be silly because it's excellent. As for Cerys and Hjalmar, you literally get to choose who takes the throne.
If you manage to keep Ciri alive, the rest is up to your personal preferences, and it's pretty easy to set the conditions you want. Choose a side in the war, determine who is best suited for Skelligan's rule, and ponder the meaning of true love. Make sure you keep an eye out for your friends along the way (look at you, Thaler) and you'll probably end up with a world state tailored just for you.
